Siemens Water Technologies' Zimpro Products traces its beginnings to 1935, when Frederick J.
Zimmermann began to develop technology at Rothschild, WI, for the commercial
production of vanillin from spent pulping liquor. Success with wet oxidation
led to its commercialization as the "Zimmermann Process," and gave birth to
the company name, "Zimpro." Incorporated in 1961, Zimpro Products pursued
waste treatment applications of wet oxidation, including regeneration of
spent powdered carbon slurries, and treatment of spent caustic liquor from
ethylene plants and petroleum refineries. Throughout the ensuing decades,
Zimpro Products developed and acquired other technologies.
